How to Reach NYC Helicopter Tours

New York helicopter tours can depart from Lower Manhattan, New Jersey or Westchester, and those locations are not interchangeable. Use your booking confirmation to identify the exact heliport first, then follow the subway, train, taxi or driving directions below.

The four heliport locations NYC helicopter visitors are most likely to use

Do not search only for “NYC helicopter tours” in your map app. The same booking platform can sell flights departing from different states and airports. Match the location below to the address printed on your voucher.

01 Lower Manhattan

Downtown Manhattan Skyport · Pier 6

The main Manhattan sightseeing departure point is at 6 East River Piers, New York, NY 10004, on the East River beside the Financial District. Many booking confirmations still refer to it as the Downtown Manhattan Heliport.

Useful landmark Look for the waterfront heliport north of the Staten Island Ferry terminal and south of Pier 11.
02 New Jersey

Linden Municipal Airport

HeliNY’s New Jersey departures use 1101 W Edgar Rd, Linden, NJ 07036. This is a completely different departure location from the Manhattan heliport and requires travel across the Hudson.

Useful connection NJ Transit serves Linden Station from New York Penn Station, with ground transport required between the railway station and airport.
03 New Jersey

Kearny heliport for selected photo flights

FlyNYON currently directs passengers driving to its New Jersey location to 78 John Miller Way, Kearny, NJ. It is not the same location as Linden Municipal Airport.

Public transport approach FlyNYON recommends PATH to Journal Square or NJ Transit to Newark Penn Station, followed by taxi or rideshare to the hangar.
04 Westchester

Westchester County Airport · White Plains area

Wings Air operates from Atlantic Aviation West at 67 Tower Road, West Harrison, NY 10604 inside Westchester County Airport. Many private and longer scenic flights use this base.

Public transport approach Take Metro-North from Grand Central to White Plains, then continue by taxi or rideshare to the airport.

The tour title does not tell you where you need to go.

“New York City helicopter tour” can describe a flight departing from Manhattan, New Jersey or Westchester. Always use the meeting-point address shown for the exact option and date you purchased.

Helicopter sightseeing flight departing in the New York City area
For a Manhattan departure, search for the heliport — not for the tour company. Several sightseeing operators use the same Pier 6 waterfront facility, so “Downtown Manhattan Heliport” or “Downtown Skyport” is usually more useful in a map app than the operator name.
Pier 6 directions

How to reach the Downtown Manhattan Heliport by subway, taxi or on foot

Pier 6 is on the East River at the southern end of Manhattan. It is close to South Ferry, Whitehall Street, Bowling Green and the Financial District.

Subway

South Ferry, Whitehall Street or Bowling Green

The easiest subway station depends on where you are travelling from. Official heliport and operator directions identify several nearby Lower Manhattan stations.

  • 1 train: South Ferry.
  • R/W: Whitehall Street–South Ferry.
  • 4/5: Bowling Green.
  • Walk toward the East River waterfront and Pier 6.
Taxi / rideshare

Ask for Downtown Manhattan Heliport at Pier 6

For taxi or rideshare, use 6 East River Piers, New York, NY 10004 or search for Downtown Manhattan Heliport / Downtown Skyport.

  • Drop-off is on the Lower Manhattan waterfront.
  • Do not enter only “Wall Street” as the destination.
  • Allow extra road time during commuter periods.
From Times Square

Subway is often simpler

The 1 train runs downtown to South Ferry, while the R/W can take you toward Whitehall Street depending on service.

From Wall Street

You may already be close

The heliport is on the East River side of Lower Manhattan, so many Financial District hotels are within walking or short taxi distance.

From Brooklyn

Use Lower Manhattan connections

Cross into the Financial District by subway, then continue on foot toward South Street and Pier 6.

Pier 6 arrival sequence

A simple way to avoid going to the wrong waterfront pier

01 Navigate to Pier 6

Use “Downtown Manhattan Heliport” or 6 East River Piers rather than simply entering the operator’s company name.

02 Use South Ferry as your landmark

From the ferry terminal area, walk north along the East River side toward the heliport building.

03 Match the operator at check-in

Several helicopter companies use the facility, so show your booking confirmation once inside rather than assuming every desk handles your flight.

Outside Manhattan

How to reach New Jersey and Westchester helicopter departures

These departures require more ground travel than Pier 6, so the rail station nearest the airport or hangar matters almost as much as the heliport address itself.

01 NJ Transit

Manhattan to Linden Municipal Airport

For HeliNY’s Linden departures, travel from New York Penn Station toward Linden Station, New Jersey using NJ Transit. HeliNY states that a complimentary shuttle between Linden Station and the airport can be available on request.

Do before travelling Confirm shuttle arrangements with the operator instead of arriving at Linden Station and assuming a vehicle will automatically be waiting.
02 PATH / NJ Transit

Manhattan to Kearny

For selected FlyNYON flights, take PATH toward Journal Square or NJ Transit to Newark Penn Station, then finish the journey by taxi or rideshare to 78 John Miller Way.

Important Do not accidentally navigate to Linden simply because both flights depart from New Jersey.
03 Metro-North

Grand Central to Westchester County Airport

Wings Air recommends Metro-North from Grand Central Terminal to White Plains. Its current guidance estimates roughly 35 minutes on an express train, followed by about a 10-minute taxi or rideshare to the airport.

Destination Atlantic Aviation West, 67 Tower Road, West Harrison, NY 10604.
04 Driving

Driving can make more sense outside Manhattan

New Jersey and Westchester departure points generally suit drivers better than Pier 6. HeliNY says its Linden location has free parking, while Wings Air also publishes free parking at its Westchester base.

Good choice when You are staying outside Manhattan, travelling as a family or already have access to a car.

Before leaving for the heliport

Four checks that prevent most direction mistakes

The main navigation problem is not finding New York — it is assuming that every helicopter tour uses the same heliport.

01 · Read the meeting-point address

Do not navigate from the tour title. Copy the actual street address shown on your voucher.

02 · Check the state

NYC sightseeing products can start in New York or New Jersey, so look for “NY” versus “NJ” before leaving.

03 · Build in the final transfer

Rail connections to Linden, Kearny or White Plains do not finish directly at the helicopter hangar.

04 · Re-check operator instructions

Shuttles, pickup options and meeting procedures can differ by booking even when two tours use the same airport.
